Welcome to the HIH Demonstrator Project (HIH)

The HIH facilitates and accelerates the commercialisation of innovative healthcare solutions. We want to hear from people in industry, healthcare professionals, healthcare workers and entrepreneurs who can demonstrate they have unique applied technologies and solutions ready for further commercial development in Ireland. We want to develop next generation technologies for the global marketplace in Ireland and in doing so to create jobs and exports from our communities at home.

We support well developed healthcare projects access real-world experience in the health sector. We want to develop the next generation of leaders in healthcare and related industries develop novel solutions which improve health outcomes and lower health system costs. We are highly collaborative and work directly with companies and partnering institutions to scale developed technologies with the potential to transform healthcare by transforming our local health services.

Working with project promoters, we will help you answer two questions:

1) Does your product/innovation work - does it deliver?

2) If it delivers, does it do so affordably against the prevailing standard of care and can it be developed, manufactured and exported from Ireland?

If it does 1 and 2 and supports our national economic agenda, then we will work with you to make it ready for health systems beyond Ireland and support its growth and access to appropriate state aids, incentives and investment.

Ireland's high tech industry sectors already export over €50Bn annually in pharmaceuticals, medical technologies and software. Ireland boasts a who's who of leading multinational companies in these sectors in addition to a thriving indigenous and innovative SME sector. Many Irish based companies and people are global leaders in Medical Devices, Pharmaceuticals, ICT, Telephony and Software, Food and Health technologies, Health Facility Engineering, Health Research Services and Global Services support.

Our people are talented, our industries diverse. Our healthcare professionals are acknowledged across the world for their training, their capabilities and their commitment to patient care. Our tertiary, secondary and primary care systems working with industry can help us exploit our national value proposition to deliver competitive solutions to the multi-billion dollar global healthcare market. We work across state agencies, with providers in the health system and with allied industry sectors who wish to develop technologies for health.

The HIH in Cork supports the collaboration of a highly motivated network of scientists, engineers, clinicians, allied health professionals, entrepreneurs and industry, working to develop new approaches to improve patient care. We support the validation and improvement of innovative solutions across multiple industrial sectors where it impacts health delivery and health improvement. We are working to support the National Health System join up and network itself, not just in Ireland, but across the world. We want better health-industrial collaboration to spark innovation to support better healthcare and contribute to new exports and new jobs. This agenda is only just beginning.
